KINSTONFor the second straight game, Pitt Community College basketball came up straight by the narrowest of margins. Just four days after falling to Patrick Henry Community College by one, the Bulldogs fell to Region X Conference-foe Lenoir Community College Wednesday, 85-84. The Bulldogs trailed 39-37 at halftime, but led late in the second half. PCC Coach Chad Reynolds said his team simply made poor decisions in the final minute, which resulted in the one-point loss. Reynolds said his team was lucky to only trail by two at the break after being outrebounded and outhustled throughout the first half. Though the Bulldogs made 26 of their 29 shots from the foul line, Reynolds said his team had difficulty stopping LCCs Curtis Hines and Miguel Starkey, who scored 28 and 21 for the Lancers, respectively. Eugene Jenkins led the PCC offensive attack with 19 points. Adonte McCarter scored 14, and Jeremy Ross 13. With the loss, Pitt is now 7-10 on the season, 4-10 in Region X Conference play. Next up for the Bulldogs is a home matchup with Rockingham Community College on Feb. 18. Tip-off in the Coburn Center is set for 7 p.m.
