Spring '09 Enrollment Expected to be Highest Ever

WINTERVILLEBy the time the final numbers are in, Pitt Community Colleges Spring 2009 enrollment will likely be the schools highest ever.

As of Thursday morning, PCC Registrar Joanne Ceres reported the college had 7,063 students enrolled. With about 40 additional Huskins students to be added to that figure, Ceres said PCCs spring enrollment would be approximately 7,100 students, about 12 more than the previous record of 7,088 set in Fall 2008.

As of late last month, Weekend College enrollment had grown by 30 percent, Ceres said, adding that the number could be higher still.

The number of full-time students is up 14 percent this spring compared to the same point a year ago. Overall, enrollment is up 12.29 percent from last spring semester.

When compared to 2005, enrollment this spring is up 20 percent. A total of 5,684 students signed up for courses in Spring 2005, and that number has grown each year since. There were 5,694 students enrolled in Spring 2006, 5,965 a year later, and 6,134 in Spring 2008.
