Bulldogs Top Eagles to Get Back on Track

Coming Off Loss to Vance-Granville, PCC Basketball Takes Down Rockingham, 90-81

WENTWORTHLed by Adonte McCarters 19 points, five Pitt Community College basketball players scored in double figures to give the Bulldogs a 5-1 mark on the season with a 90-81 victory over Rockingham Community College.

PCC played well defensively and shot well early on to go into halftime up 50-41. The Bulldogs extended that lead in the second half only to allow the Eagles creep back into the contest.

As we move ahead, we are going to have to play more consistent, PCC Coach Chad Reynolds said. We are starting to see teams make adjustments to our personnel, and that is forcing us to be more patient about what it is that we want on offense.

Johnny Godette was a force inside for Pitt. In addition to 16 points and 10 rebounds, the Bulldogs big man had seven blocked shots. Damien Williams also scored 16 for PCC to go along with five assists and four boards.

Steffen McGhee and Eugene Jenkins just missed on double-doubles for the Bulldogs. Both players finished with 12 points and nine assists.

With the victory, PCC improved to 2-1 in the Region X Conference.

Whenever you play on the road in college basketballat any levelit is never easy, Reynolds said. We have a lot to work on over the holidays as we head into a tough conference schedule in January.

The Bulldogs will play eight games in January, starting at home against Lenoir Community College on Jan. 7. Tip-off in the Coburn Center is scheduled for 7 p.m.
