HST Club Raises Funds for Greenville Shelter

WINTERVILLE�The Human Services Technology Club from Pitt Community College presented a $100-check to Sharon McLaughlin of the Greenville Community Shelter this month.

The funds provided to the Shelter were raised by HST Club members during the Fall 2008 Semester. Presenting the check to McLaughlin on behalf of the HST Club were Club President Mary Frances Bowen, Vice President Samantha Peaden and Faculty Advisor Bob DeSoto.

The Greenville Community Shelter is a private, non-profit agency that assists families and individuals 18 and older in setting and meeting lifestyle management goals that will allow them to become more self-reliant.

The Shelter collaborates with other community agencies and individual volunteers to reduce and/or prevent homelessness. The organization has also worked in partnership with PCC to offer educational enrichment programs, including life skills training, financial management tips, and employment skills and education-level upgrading.
