WINTERVILLE�Pitt Community College Electrical/Electronics Technology students David Bunch and Jeff Hale each received the Pitt County Electrical Contractors Association's (PCECA) John Payne Scholarship this week. Bunch and Hale are wrapping up their first year at PCC and will begin their second and final year of the Electrical/Electronics program in August. The $500 in scholarship money they received this month will help pay for their tuition. Bunch, a 2007 D.H. Conley graduate, is the son of Van and Sandra Bunch of Winterville. He plans to become an electrician and own his own business. A 2007 graduate of Gates County High School, Hale is the son of Ruth Thompson and Dallas Hale. The Gatesville native plans to become an electrical technician. PCECA President Jimmy Benson presented Bunch and Hale with their scholarships on Wednesday in Pitt�s Kathryn V. Whichard Building. Fellow PCECA officers Dick Haddock (Vice President), Tommy Joyner (Program Chairman) and Osborne Clark (Treasurer) were also on hand. �Stay in the electrical industry and do us proud,� Benson told the students following the scholarship presentation, which was also attended by Susan Nobles, executive director of the PCC Foundation, PCC Electrical/Electronics Curriculum Coordinator Eddie Sherrod and PCC Electrical/Electronics instructor Michael Knight.
