Kristi Pipkin posted five of the Bulldogs' 13 aces against the Indians. | WINTERVILLE�Pitt Community College made the most of its opportunities against USC-Salkehatchie Saturday. The result was a 3-0 (30-21, 30-15, 30-17) win to go 17-0 in the Region X Conference. The Bulldogs (28-8 overall) served aggressively throughout the match, finishing with 13 aces � five by Kristi Pipkin. �If the other team can�t return serve effectively, it creates free balls for us,� PCC coach William Way said. �We capitalized on those opportunities very well.� Way said Pitt had a little extra incentive to beat the Indians. The last time the two teams played, the �Dawgs began the match two games down as a penalty for arriving late due to a scheduling miscommunication. Everyone on the PCC squad played and contributed in Saturday�s contest, Way said, adding that the victory was �one step closer to where we�re trying to get to.� Casey Williams led the Bulldogs with nine kills. Jessica Joyner and Carissa Faragke finished with seven each. Faragke also recorded a team-high 11 digs against USC-Salkehatchie. 10/26/2006 |
