WILKESBOROComing off a huge win over second-place Louisburg the night before, Pitt Community College avoided a potential letdown by blitzing Wilkes Community College, 30-19, 30-14, 30-25. The Bulldogs attacked Wilkes right at the start of Sundays matchup. Pitt coach William Way said his club served aggressively against the Cougars and took advantage of free ball chances to score. PCC committed just four errors for the match and posted an outstanding .389 hitting percentage. Everybody was involved, Way said. Everyone played and contributed. We showed we have a lot of depth. No one player has to carry the load. For the second straight game, outside hitters Anita Roberson and Jessica Joyner showed the way for the Bulldogs. Both players posted nine kills. Casey Williams and Sierra Ham had seven kills each. Jamie Morris led Pitt in assists with 11, and Carissa Faragke added 10 more. Lindsey Ulmer and Stephanie Sports led the teams defensive efforts with 12 and 10 digs, respectively. Just past the midway point of the Region X Conference season, the Dawgs are alone in first at 11-0. PCCs eleventh consecutive win makes them 20-4 on the season heading into Saturdays game at Rockingham.
