Jessica Joyner posted six of her team-high 12 kills in Saturday's decisive game four win.
FLAT ROCKPitt Community College overcame a slow start Saturday to rally past Blue Ridge Community College in four games, 21-30, 30-15, 30-24, 30-23, a day after the Bears gave Louisburg College its first Region X Conference loss.

Riding high from their big win over the Hurricanes on Friday, Blue Ridge rolled out to a fast start Saturday afternoon to take game one from PCC.

Despite playing flat in the first game, the Bulldogs managed to do an about face in game two and made a statement that they were, in fact, ready to play. Coach William Way said his team communicated better in game two and ratcheted up the defense, posting six blocks en route to a 30-15 win to draw even with the Bears.

Down 18-12 in game three, Pitt once again turned the tables on Blue Ridge, going on a 7-0 scoring run with Anita Roberson serving. Lindsey Ulmer showed the way for the Dawgs defensively with 14 digs in game three, and Casey Williams tacked on five kills.

Game four was a back-and-forth affair. Way said his teams defensive play eventually ignited the offensive attack and PCC was able to put the match away behind solid play from outside hitters Jessica Joyner and Jordy Warren. Six of Joyners team-high 12 kills came in the final game while Warren added four of her seven kills in the decisive frame.

Ulmer finished with 25 digs for PCC, which improved to 7-0 in Region X play, 16-4 overall. Bulldogs setter Jamie Morris had 36 assists.
