PCC Volleyball Improves to 13-4 Heading into Key Matchup with Cape Fear Community College
WINTERVILLEPitt Community College utilized a balanced offensive attack and stiff defense Saturday to turn back visiting Wilkes Community College in three games, 30-18, 30-15, 30-23. Five players posted at least six kills for the Bulldogs, led by sophomores Casey Williams (nine kills) and Jordy Warren (seven). It was a total team effort, said PCC coach William Way. Pitt started out sluggish against the Cougars (1-6 overall) and fell behind in game one before stiffening defensively to battle back. We didnt let them do what they wanted to do, Way said, adding that strong serving contributed greatly to the teams success. Us being able to serve effectively limited their offense and generated free balls for us, and we capitalized on them, he said. Anita Roberson led the Dawgs with six aces. Kristi Pipkin, Jamie Morris and Lindsey Ulmer chipped in with three each. Now 13-4 overall and 4-0 in the Region X Conference, Pitt faces off with Cape Fear tonight on the road at 7 p.m. The Bulldogs topped the Sea Devils earlier this year to win the Third Annual Bulldog Volleyball Classic. 09/19/2006 | Stephanie Sports (#17) and Lindsey Ulmer (#11) |
