TRIO Awards Banquet
For the third straight year, PCC's TRIO program held a banquet to honor students for classroom success.

WINTERVILLEPitt Community Colleges Student Support Services program (or TRIO) honored its student participants this month with an awards banquet in the Craig F. Goess Student Center.

Held April 23, the event celebrated the success of 16 soon-to-be graduates and 46 students who achieved academic excellence by posting cumulative grade point averages of 3.0 or higher.

The banquet also featured several special award presentations, including one for perseverance given to SSS student Pamela Grantham, who is scheduled to graduate in May. According to TRIO Program Director LaTonya Evans, Grantham overcame numerous health challenges in order to complete her program of study at PCC.

Special awards were also presented to TRIOs work-study and tutoring staffs and volunteers, Evans said, adding that Jamelle Moore, the SSS programs administrative assistant, was recognized for her service and dedication to staff and students.

In addition to a catered meal, the banquet featured entertainment by PCCs gospel choir, Elements of Praise.
