Haley Galimore Signing
Haley Galimore (seated, left) signed with PCC volleyball this month out of J.H. Rose High School. Joining Haley for the signing were her mother, Sherry (seated, right), J.H. Rose Volleyball Coach Norm Cabacar (standing, left), PCC Volleyball Coach Tom Marsh (standing, center) and J.H. Rose Athletic Director Tommy Peacock.

WINTERVILLE—When Tom Marsh re-took the helm of the Pitt Community College volleyball program this spring, he said recruiting local players would be one of his priorities.

True to his word, Marsh made good on his pledge earlier this month, when he signed J.H. Rose standout Haley Galimore to help him return the Bulldogs to the National Junior College Athletic Association Tournament on a regular basis.

With just three returnees from last season’s 18-12 team, Galimore will be a key addition to the PCC program. At six feet tall, she’ll give the Bulldogs plenty of size at the net.

“She has the height and ability to play any of the front row positions but is most likely going to compete for middle blocker or right front spots,” Marsh said. “Her blocking ability is going to create problems for other teams in our conference.”

Marsh added that Galimore would also bring a number of intangibles to the program, including a positive attitude, enthusiasm for the game and a desire to improve. “Haley has a wonderful work ethic and attitude and should be a valuable addition to the team,” he said.

The daughter of Greenville’s John and Sherry Galimore, Haley Galimore should already know what to expect from her future college coach. Marsh was the assistant volleyball coach at Rose last season when Galimore and her teammates won the State 4-A Championship.

The 17-year-old Galimore, who was named the Rampants’ “Most Improved” player in 2008, says she is excited about continuing her volleyball career at Pitt.

“I realize that playing in college is not something every player gets to do, so I’m very thankful for this chance to continue growing in my sport,” she said.

Galimore said she would enroll in PCC’s University Transfer program. She plans to eventually earn a bachelors degree to become a teacher.
