WINTERVILLE� Tim Kent, Executive Vice President of the N.C. Association of Realtors, will discuss "The State of N.C. Real Estate� as the third installment of the Pitt Community College Alumni Association Speaker Series on April 13.

Since October 2000, Kent has served as chief executive officer of the 42,000-member association, which has offices in Greensboro and Raleigh.

Prior to his current occupation, Kent spent 10 years as CEO of the North Carolina chapter of the American Institute of Architects. He also served as executive assistant to the Speaker of the N.C. House of Representatives following a distinguished, 13-year career in television news.

In 1986, Kent was named N.C. Television Journalist of the Year by the Radio-Television News Directors Association of the Carolinas and won first place for �Best Reporting� in 1988 from United Press International.

Kent has received the Certified Association Executive designation from the American Society of Association Executives and the Center for Association Leadership. He was the 1995-96 president of Association Executives of North Carolina and received the �Outstanding CEO Award� from AENC in 1997.

Kent is an accomplished public speaker on issues affecting leadership, political action and the housing industry.

The N.C. Association of Realtors maintains the largest business political action committee in the state�the N.C. Realtors Political Action Committee (N.C. RPAC).

In a state with nearly 800 registered lobbyists, Kent is currently ranked as the 11th most effective lobbyist in North Carolina by the N.C. Center of Public Policy Research. The ranking is done every two years through a survey of legislators, news reporters and lobbyists.
