Band performs thrilling live performance using assorted recyclable items as instruments

BRISTOL, R.I., Jan. 2008 – To kick off a campus recycling competition at Roger Williams University, the University’s student/staff Recycling and Sustainability Committee will host a concert by Recycled Percussion, an acclaimed four-man band that boasts an exhilarating live show performed entirely on instruments made from recyclable materials.

Tickets for the performance—to be held on Friday, Feb. 8, at 8 p.m.—cost $3 per person or $10 per four-person family for members of the public as well as RWU faculty and staff. Roger Williams students may attend for free. Tickets are available at the door—no advance reservation is required. The show will take place in the Campus Recreation Center on the University’s Bristol campus at One Old Ferry Road.

Recycled Percussion’s instruments include, among others, recycled trash cans, buckets, ladders, cans, drills, gas tanks, cones, scuba tanks, duct tape, chain saws, drumsticks and their bodies and voices. The performance features hard-rock drumming by two power percussionists, Justin Spencer and Ryan Vezina, intoxicating grooves spun by turntable artist DJ Pharoah and mind-blowing guitar by Guitar Monster Jimmy.
