HAGERSTOWN, Md.�The Pitt Community College volleyball team took a break from conference action over the weekend and split six matches at the Hagerstown Community College Invitational. The Bulldogs played four times Saturday, topping a pair of Maryland schools�Community College of Baltimore County � Catonsville and Allegheny College�but falling to the tournament host and Schoolcraft College (MI). In Sunday�s matches, Pitt routed CCBC-Catonsville once again before wrapping up tournament play with a loss to Howard Community College (MD). Jessica Joyner led the Dawgs in Saturday�s 2-1 (30-25, 29-31, 15-12) victory over Catonsville, finishing with 10 kills and eight digs. Courtney Koch recorded eight kills, eight blocked shots and four block assists against the Cardinals while Kristi Pipkin posted a team-high 18 digs. In a 2-0 (31-29, 30-26) victory over Allegheny, Danielle Jarman and Michelle Bracey put away six kills each to lead the PCC attack. Stephanie Martin, Joyner and Pipkin had 10 kills apiece to pace the Bulldogs defensively. Pitt mustered a combined 34 kills in Saturday�s losses�a 2-0 (30-20, 30-18) defeat to Schoolcraft and a 2-0 (30-18, 30-20) setback against Hagerstown. On Sunday, Koch turned in another strong performance against the Cardinals with a team-high 10 kills to go along with five digs, two blocks and six block assists. Danielle Towler had eight kills and six digs, and Joyner posted a team-high 15 digs. Stephanie Daughtry recorded four service aces, six digs and six kills for the Dawgs. Pitt pushed Howard Community College to three games by winning the first, 30-28. But after dropping game two, 30-19, PCC fell 15-11 in the decisive frame. Joyner (7), Koch (7) and Bracey (6) combined for 20 of the Pitt�s 27 kills against the Dragons. Heading into Friday�s matchup with Guilford Tech, the Bulldogs are 15-12 overall, 11-3 in the Region X Conference. 10/18/2007
