Wednesday, September 23, 2009H1N1 Swine Flu Update from President of RCCCTO: R-CCC Students FROM: Ralph G. Soney, President RE: H1N1 Swine Flu DATE: September 17, 2009
I am certain that many of you are just as concerned about the potential outbreak of H1N1 as much of the country is these days. The news has been filled with various stories of outbreak and cases, particularly at educational institutions. The College is taking as many precautions and steps as it can to assure that we protect our staff and students from exposure to the virus. As a preventive measure, Amy Wiggins (Human Resources Coordinator) has planned a Flu Shot Clinic on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 in the Freeland Building, Room 214 from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. I have also asked Ms. Wiggins and Student Services Dean Vann to check into a cost reduction for providing flu shots for students. Currently the regular flu shot is free to employees on the State Health Plan or has Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance. The cost is approximately $30 for students and non-plan members. In my opinion, helping you get immunized will benefit the entire campus should an outbreak occur. I am asking our MIS Department to set up an on-campus web box to field questions and transmit information regarding the H1N1 virus. I am also asking them to do this through campus cruiser with a link from our home page. Be Healthy. Wash your hands, cover your mouth and stay home if you are sick.
