ESEE 2302 Hours: AFTER CLASS AND BY APPOINTMENT Text: Miller, ONeill, Beginning and Intermediate Algebra This is a remedial, noncredit course. This class will provide an overview of the concepts of Beginning Algebra. There will be 5 tests, daily work average and a comprehensive final. The 5 tests will be taken in the Testing Center (EMOD1212). Any help that you may need outside of class or office hours will be provided by the Math Lab (EMOD1211). Grading is based on the following percentages: Tests 60%-80% Daily Work Average 0%- 20% Final Exam 20% The Final Exam may replace your lowest nonzero test grade. Homework and/or quizzes will be assigned and graded to comprise the daily work average. Please be prompt and do not leave early. Should situations arise that you must leave early, please let me know in advance. Should you leave early without advance notice, you will be counted absent for that day. Otherwise, this outline is a suggested pace for the course. It is subject to change. The pace of this course is well suited to comprehension of the material. Due Dates For Tests Tests are due in the testing center on the date and time stated by your instructor. All requests for late or make-up tests require department approval. Tests will not be available in the testing center one week after the date listed in the course outline above. The last test will be administered on Tuesday, July 3rd, 2007. Final Drop Date Saturday, June 30th, 2007 Suggestions For Success In Class: 1. Be In Class and Be On Time. 2. Make Homework A Priority. Math is a skill that you MUST practice. 3. Do Your Homework Daily. Do not play catch up. You can not afford to miss an assignment, quiz, or test! 4. Pay Attention In Class and Take Notes. The example problems will provide a guide for your homework. 5. Do Not Be Afraid To Ask Questions. I will answer any and all questions. 6. Attend Each Test Review. It is basically the test with different numbers. Be courteous to fellow students - Set all cell phones to silent before class begins! Over please for important testing center rules. SE Academic Testing Center Policies and Procedures Hours: Monday Thursday 7:30am-10:00pm (No test will be provided after 9:00pm) All tests are collected by testing center personnel 15 minutes before closing time. Tests may not be completed at a later date. Retests are not allowed without department approval. REQUIREMENTS FOR TESTING: Picture photo ID and one of the following---Test slip provided by the instructor or instructors name, course number, test number. ACADEMIC DISHONESTY POLICY: Each of the following is considered academic dishonesty in the testing center: - Possession of practice tests/formulas/notes/text on display or with testing materials. - Display of a cellphone. Consequently, cell phones must be turned off before entering the testing center. (Exceptions are allowed for emergency situations. Notify the testing center personnel before testing.) - Removal of testing materials from the center. - MATH 0302: Display of a calculator on the first two tests. Evidence of academic dishonesty will result in confiscation of test materials, notification to the mathematics department, and an automatic grade of zero for the test.
