Facebook Meets ValleyCAT (Blackboard)

How does this work?
A building block has been added to our ValleyCAT (Blackboard) site called Blackboard Sync (BbSync). BbSync is a safe and secure student engagement tool for Facebook that keeps students continually connected to their academic studies and promotes social learning opportunities. This is an optional tool for students…they can choose to use or not.
Blackboard Sync will send notifications to Facebook users about each new or updated piece of information, complete with a link to the item in their Blackboard course. So, for example, if there is a new grade posted, Blackboard Sync will notify the student thru the Facebook app and provide a link to navigate to Blackboard and authenticate into the system to view the grade. This works the same for assignments and other course materials. Only notifications are transmitted so that security is maintained within Blackboard.
Students cannot share this information with their Facebook Friends or Networks, and there is no way for other students to access their information through Blackboard Sync.
Interfacing Blackboard with Facebook can be another tool to keep help keep you connected to classes and the College.

How to install:
Go to Facebook (Login or Create an Account)
In the search box type “Blackboard Learn”


Click on “Allow”
Skip the Blackboard Sync Application Invite
Read the “Terms of Use” and then click on the I agree check box. Then Continue

STEP 1:
Enter the CVCC ValleyCAT Blackboard URL
http://cvcc.blackboard.com
Click Continue



STEP 2:
Enter your ValleyCAT username and password
Click Continue

 

STEP 3:
Your ValleyCAT account will be Synced to Facebook.
This may take a few minutes.

Once the Sync is finished the application can be accessed by the application toolbar and links at the bottom left of your screen.
