For security purpose, users who are idle for 27 minutes within CampusCruiser are provided 3 minutes warning that their session will time out. Selecting "Yes" on the warning message will extent the user's session for another 30 minutes. Note, however, that there are a few areas in CampusCruiser where a "Refresh Rate" can be set:

Why do I need a Log In ID and Password?Log in IDs and Passwords are assigned to protect users' personal accounts in CampusCruiser. The ID and Password that are assigned to you will allow you to access your personal areas such as MyCruiser, E-mail, your Address Book and your To Do List. How do I log in?
After logging in, I see the Dashboard page. What is the Dashboard? The MyCruiser tab (which may be renamed to be "My___," depending on your institution) provides access to features that work uniquely for you. It also houses all Personal Tools; when any of the Personal Tools are accessed, the MyCruiser tab remains active. The MyCruiser tab has two sub-tabs:
The Dashboard sub-tab and page is displayed after a successful login, and any time the MyCruiser tab is clicked. In Dashboard, channels are the individual modules that provide you with quick access into your communities and Personal Tools. Channels in can be customizable by you, while your administrator may have some channels applied permanently to your Dashboard. All channels can be expanded for viewing in more detail.
How can I change my password?Depending on your institution's policies concerning passwords, the "Change Password" option may not be available to you.
Common QuestionsWhere is the User Directory, and what tasks can I perform with it?You can access your CampusCruiser's User Directory by clicking the Campus Life First-level Tab, and then clicking the Directory Second-level Tab. When you access the directory, you can search for members by one or more of the following methods:
You can also have the User Directory list all CampusCruiser users. Once users are listed, you can send E-mail messages to selected users. If any users have created Personal Web Pages, or Personal Photo Albums for public viewing, then the User Directory will provide icons which will allow you to view them.|- How are "Announcements" different from the "Message Board"?In numerous areas, such as Clubs, Classes, and even in the campus-wide General First-level Tab, there is an Announcements feature as well as a Message Board. Generally, the Announcements feature is where announcements are posted. Posting privileges are usually restricted to Campus Cruiser members with administrative privileges, and replies to posted announcements are not permitted. However, the Message Board feature generally allows all members to have posting privileges. Other members may also respond to posts on the board, creating written discussions, or "threads." What are Personal Web Pages, and how do I use them? Each CampusCruiser user is allowed to create Personal Web Pages, using built-in CampusCruiser templates. No knowledge of programming or HTML is required. Different templates allow for different page layouts, different background and text colors, and images may also be included. You are given a unique URL (Uniform Resource Locator) that will allow anyone to view your pages, even if they are not CampusCruiser members. To begin creating your Personal Web Pages, access the Personal Tools, and then the Web Pages. Like the Personal Photo Albums feature, Personal Web Pages are for your enjoyment. Note: You cannot use publishing tools such as FrontPage, or Dreamweaver to upload your own webpages. What are Personal Photo Albums, and how do I use them?Like the Personal Web Pages, your Personal Photo Albums are for your enjoyment (accessible from the Personal Tools). You can keep an on-line Photo Album of your favorite pictures. Photo Albums can be either public or private. If your album is public, then other CampusCruiser members can view your albums; if your album is private, then only you and others who you invite can view your album (for safety reasons, CampusCruiser Administrators may also access private photo albums). Whether albums are public or private, you have the option of sharing the URL (Uniform Resource Locator) so that others may view your photo albums, even if they are not CampusCruiser members. What is an Online class?Similar to traditional classes, online classes are virtual classes, conducted in an online setting. If a teacher chooses to create an online class, CampusCruiser's features can still accommodate the online class's needs. The only difference between a traditional class and an online class is the lack of a traditional classroom setting. What are Chat Rooms?CampusCruiser's Chat Rooms allow you to chat with your friends online. When you enter a Chat Room, other users can see your Log in ID to identify you. After you enter the room, you have the option of engaging in a private 1-on-1 chat with another user. Private chat rooms allow only two people to chat at one time, and are conducted separately and privately away from the main Chat Room. What are the differences among Clubs, Offices, and Committees? The main difference among these groups is the members within them and their roles within your campus community. Clubs are intended for extracurricular or recreational groups; Offices are intended for members of different offices in your campus; Committees are intended for members who chair any committees in your campus community. However, each of these groups have the same CampusCruiser features, which are specifically for use by the group's members:
What do "private" and "public" mean in CampusCruiser?Photo Albums, Clubs, Offices and Committees can be set to be either public or private. Setting a Photo Album to be "private" means that only the album's owner(s) may view the album, as well as any others who the owner allows to view the album. When a Club, Office or Committee is set to private, invitations must be sent to let other CampusCruiser users become members to the group. |
